Tibetan Buddhist Sacred Sand Mandala Project August 18-24 All Peoples Sanctuary

Sand Mandala

All Peoples, a Unitarian Universalist Congregation, and the Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion are delighted to host the traveling Tibetan Buddhist Monks from the Drepung Gomang Monastery in India. The Monks will offer the creation of the Interfaith World Peace Sacred Sand Mandala, a powerful, prayer-filled ritual for peace.

Please join us during any of the hours when the Monks will be working.  This project is free and open to the public.

The current schedule is:

Sunday, August 18th  4:00-5:00 PM            Opening Ceremony

Monday, August 19th  9:00 AM-1:00 PM      Monks at work on creating the mandala

Tuesday, August 20th 1:00-6:00 PM             Monks at work on creating the mandala with related family activities from 4:00-6:00 PM

Wednesday, August 21st 1:00-5:00 PM        Monks at work on creating the mandala with special meditation at 1:00 PM

Thursday, August 22nd 9:00 AM-1:00 PM    Monks at work on creating the mandala

Friday, August 23rd  3:00- 8:00 PM              Monks at work on creating the mandala

Saturday, August 24th 2:00- 3:00 PM          Monks lead dissolution ceremony;
All those present will receive a small amount of blessed sand from the mandala;
All will then be invited to a final location on the river for the Ceremony of Releasing

In partnership with the Drepung Gomang Center for Engaging Compassion, the Lifespan Faith Engagement Community at All Peoples is coordinating the construction of a Tibetan Sacred Sand Mandala Project during August right here our sanctuary. Your generosity can help make it happen.

Our fundraising goal, approved by the Administration Committee, is $1,500.00. These funds will go to support the traveling Tibetan monks who will create the mandala.
