The Social Justice Committee denounces Acts and Bias Against Asian Americans
The Social Justice Committee (SJC) of All Peoples decries any acts of assaults, hate and bias against our Asian-American neighbors, and we plead that they end now. Asian-Americans have endured increases of targeted violence since the COVID-19 pandemic began. As Unitarian Universalists, we affirm unconditional, universal love as a foundation and grounding for our actions in the world. As such, the SJC of All Peoples stands in solidarity with Asian-Americans.
The SJC of All Peoples encourages others to find ways to help stem anti-Asian hate incidents. Individuals can intervene to help protect Asian-Americans when they are threatened. One source of guidance for such intervention is from the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “Speak Up” strategies, which suggests four steps when responding to coronavirus racism: interrupt, question, echo and educate.
