I hope this finds you well, and that since our last meeting in mid-August, you have had some time to reflect on the serious issues raised by Dr. Rashid Khalidi’s classic “The Hundred Years War on Palestine: A History of Settler-Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017.” As a follow-up to Dr. Khalidi’s masterpiece, we will be studying a recent book entitled “Lobbying for Zionism on Both Sides of the Atlantic” by Israel’s finest and most honest and courageous historian Professor Ilan Pappe. A blurb on the cover of this encyclopedic work, published on July 30, 2024, reads: “Over 150 years, Zionist lobbying groups transformed Israel into an untouchable state. This is a magisterial history of the most successful advertising claim the world has ever seen.” Fortunately for us, Professor Pappe has been interviewed many times, and has often spoken of the issues raised in his book. I have included a listing of a number of his interviews at the end of this letter. I would like to recommend strongly that you watch some or all of the listed videos. Professor Pappe is a captivating speaker who is an inimitable teacher. His book (published in England) which was hard to procure two months ago is now available at Amazon as well as at a number of booksellers.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 11, at 7.00 – 8.30 p. m. Our gracious Coordinator Dr. Dennis Neyman will be sending you a zoom link soon. In our initial meeting we will be having a preliminary conversation about the contents of the book and our ideas about how to engage in the review process. We will begin our review of the book in January 2025 and hope to conclude it in 3-4 sessions. It would be most helpful if you would endeavor to read as much of the book as possible, by December 11, 2024. Please feel free to invite interested persons to the meeting. Local activists would be most welcome,
