The general premise for many advocates is that advocacy begins with the agenda (that is, what we want from the decision maker). Effective advocacy starts with the relationship – creating and strengthening the relationship between the advocate and the decision maker.  This conversation will help develop the confidence in why and how to create an effective relationship with decision makers in order to begin the advocacy efforts.
