Share the Plate for September: The Hope Buss

Hope Buss logo

One year ago, we purchased our first school bus with hopes of using it to better serve our community. In October, we drove the bus around Louisville and passed out candy to excited kids for Halloween. In December, we turned the bus into a Winter Wonderland and even had a Santa join us as we drove around West Louisville passing out gifts to deserving families and children.

The Hope BussNow, because of generous donations from our monthly donors and community partners, we have been able to complete the outside renovation!! The process included sanding, stripping, painting. and a whole lot of love to get the bus to represent the community we serve and bring a little HOPE along the way. We will begin the inside renovation soon that will include new flooring, shelves, and even a deep freezer. This bus will be used as a mobile food distribution center for Dare to Care- the first of its kind.

New Partnerships

We’ve been working hard to meet the needs of the community and, as you know, that doesn’t happen without funding. Which is why we are excited to announce our new community partners:

Dare to Care
Louisville Metro Government
Gheens Foundation
Metro United Way
Starbucks
Spectrum
Humana
Community Foundation of Louisville
Mid-Kentucky Presbytery

These organizations have been instrumental in giving a hand up to the Hope Buss by way of grants, partnerships, and access to resources so we can serve our neighbors best! The Mid-Kentucky Presbytery has even provided us with a central location where we can operate deep in the heart of the West End of Louisville.

Our partnership with Dare to Care has allowed us to become the first-ever brick and mortar food pantry to operate in the Shawnee neighborhood. And, we’ve doubled the amount of families reached weekly with fresh food boxes and hot meals.

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

The Hope Buss partnered with Louisville Metro Government and Louisville Recovery Community Center to provide a vaccination clinic to our West Louisville neighbors. But, more than providing vaccines, you know we had to do it the Hope Buss way and pass out free food, health screenings, and more.
