Are you curious about critical race theory? Did you read “A People’s History of the United States” or “Lies My Teacher Told Me” and want more? Ever wish you knew more about the South as a complicated, diverse place? We have a class for that!   As William Faulkner might say it, Race and Resilience “tells about the South” before European colonization all the way through 2022.

We will spend eight sessions learning and discussing southern and African American history. Topics include (and are not limited to) indigenous cities, country, and blues music, southern foodways, Afrofuturism, what happened before and after the Civil War, and – yes! – critical race theory.  Facilitated by All Peoples member, Mel Lasseter, the class will have recommended (but not required) readings and viewings to supplement class material. All inquiring minds are welcome.
