Mary Ann was the RE Director from 1989-1996 at TJ before leaving Louisville for Atlanta, Ga. She missed her RE Director job and decided to apply to be a substitute teacher in her local school system. Mary Ann also decided to get her Master’s in Education and shortly thereafter got her Doctorate in School Improvement at the University of West Georgia and became involved in professional development for educators.
In 2009, she became a School Improvement Specialist with the Georgia Department of Education and traveled throughout the state working with schools and educators on improving their teaching abilities and helping them create positive learning environments.
After a couple of knee replacements due to playing tennis, Mary Ann decided to retire from the Ga. Department of Education. She then did some private consulting work with various school systems. In 2017, Mary Ann fully retired to spend time at home with her husband and two dogs and one cat.
Being a fan of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, she began working with a personal trainer two years ago.
Mary Beth and Mary Ann are thrilled to be back in touch with all of their TJ family through zoom. The fact that Mary Ann and Mary Beth live in Georgia and Colorado and are able to attend church via zoom is just amazing.
“When the world seems upside down it’s wonderful to be able to connect with our friends of the heart and soul at TJ”.
