Dawn has spent most of her adult life in North Carolina. Throughout the years, she has attended a wide range of protestant churches …Nazarene, Southern Baptist, Presbyterian, Reformed Presbyterian, Methodist and Disciples of Christ. Her family was more interested in their relationship to the minister and congregation than to a particular doctrine.
During the summer of her junior year in high school, Dawn had a religious experience in which she felt called to serve in the ministry. With that in mind, she began her college career as a Christian Education major. Once she became involved in an internship, she realized she was better suited as a layperson within the church. She changed her major to elementary education.
For 25 years, Dawn was an elementary school teacher, the last seven of which were as an elementary drama teacher. She decided to change careers when her son left home to begin his studies as a cadet at West Point Military Academy. It was then that she moved to Kentucky to pursue a new career as a public education advocate as the UniServ Director (Labor Relations Consultant) to support teachers in Jefferson County. In this position, she rallies in Frankfort, provides guidance to members of the Kentucky Education Association in due process meetings and facilitates diversity training.
Dawn also loves to act in community theatre, volunteer as a docent at Locust Grove and usher at the Kentucky Center. Dawn feels that TJ is a great fit for her; she felt immediately welcomed and accepted upon hearing the open words during the first service she attended. Since her first visit, she has participated in the Christmas program, attended Mindfulness Meditation and joined the Mixed Choir. She currently serves as the co-chair of the Family Ministry Program Team
