Social Justice
Over the years the members of All Peoples have worked with various organizations and have endorsed these movements that seek social justice through service and action. These organizations include:
- Fairness Campaign – In 1995, All Peoples voted to participate in the Fairness Campaign to prohibit employment discrimination on the basis of personal sexual orientation.
- CEDAW Endorsement (The UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women) – In 2014, All Peoples voted to endorse CEDAW and to support the implementation of CEDAW in Louisville and KY.
- Black Lives Matter – In 2015, All Peoples voted to respond to the 2015 UUA Action of Immediate Witness in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
- Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Justice – In 2018, All Peoples voted to become a member church of the Louisville Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Justice.
- US Peace Memorial Foundation: All Peoples is a Founding Member. Learn more about All Peoples Peace-making
The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) – a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization advancing human rights together with an international community of grassroots partners and advocates.
Our goal is to support equality and justice for marginalized groups in Louisville KY, and to educate and empower congregation members to take action on behalf of that support.
Over the past year we have had many opportunities to provide support for social justice issues as well as conduct service projects, such as:
- Providing support and leadership in the church’s participation in the 2018 Kentuckiana Pride Festival and Parade.
- Contributing to Adult Religious Exploration (Adult RE) Fall Open Campus Classes with a class called “Violence and Safety”, and Adult RE Winter Open Campus Classes with a class called “Me and Me, Too”.
- Conducted our annual giving drives for Thanksgiving Baskets and Back to School Supplies to benefit Eastern Area Christian Ministries, as well as the “Have a Heart” Holiday Tree gift collection.
- Provided support for, and hosted, The Salaam Network’s series on “LGBTQ People in God’s Promise”.
- Provided support for, and hosted, the ReZist social justice concert that raised funds for All Peoples.
Our hope is that we can provide leadership to inspire members, friends of all ages, and the community, to work to create systemic change that leads to justice and equity for all.
