KY UU Justice Action Network
In June 2020 The Justice Center at All Peoples began to develop a State-wide UU Social Justice Network, known as KUUJAN. This network will be a part of the Coalition of Unitarian Universalist State Action Networks, which is the guiding (informal) organization that supports Social Action Networks formation across the United States. The Justice Coordinating Council (JCC) was moved forward on the development of the Justice Center, which was voted on and approved during the 2018 Capital Campaign as only the glimmer of an idea. The Justice Center will work to build a network of all of the UU congregations in Kentucky to coordinate efforts to expand justice and equality throughout the Commonwealth. The Justice Center of All Peoples will take the lead on these efforts, with the Justice Center Coordinator providing leadership for the network. The intention is to both support the expansion of each congregations’ justice efforts, and to coordinate the efforts amongst and between these congregations in order to maximize our collective reach, impact and effectiveness.
The Network will be made up of the nine Unitarian Universalist Churches in Kentucky, which are:
- UU Church of Bowling Green KY
- UU Community of Frankfort
- UU Church of Lexington
- First Unitarian Church
- All Peoples Unitarian Congregation
- Clifton Universalist Unitarian Church
- UU Congregation of Owensboro
- Open Door UU Fellowship of Owensboro, KY
- UU Fellowship of Madison County
During summer 2020, we will be meeting with the social justice leadership from the other eight UU congregations in Kentucky and begin crafting a collective vision and mission.
The JCC will keep you advised of progress made along the way via announcements in the Tapestry and in the occasional weekly email.
