The Green Sanctuary Committee
All Peoples is proud to be a Green Sanctuary Congregation. We proudly use and are known as the “Green Sanctuary” Committee in our congregation and community outreach environmental justice actions.
The mission of Green Sanctuary Committee is to engage All Peoples community individually & collectively to live greener by practicing sustainable living principles. The Green Sanctuary Committee introduces concepts and commits to actions and partnership activities that nurture our connection to Earth and further environmental justice in our community and around the world.
Our initiatives have included:
- KY Interfaith Power and Light – In 2012, All Peoples voted to become a member church of KY Interfaith Power and Light.
- Citizens’ Climate Lobby :: Carbon Fee and Dividend – In 2017, All Peoples voted to urge Congress to support Carbon Fee and Dividend as a key element in reducing risks of climate change.
Advocate for Change to Address the Climate Crisis
In Dec of 2021 The Justice Center and the Green Sanctuary Committee launched a campaign to encourage the Mayor and Metro Council to add a line into our city’s budget to move towards “solar generated electricity generation” on all metro buildings – this in support of the 2020 Resolution that the Metro Council passed call for Metro Government to be carbon neutral, using 100% renewable energy city‐wide, by 2030. This initiative is known as REAL.
