The 2024 election is yet another pivotal election. The Justice Center at All Peoples works to engage voters in multiple ways: we work to register voters, we work to support voters to get to the polls, we work to recruit and mobilize registered voters to help get others to the polls, and more!
- If you are not registered, you can register here and we encourage you to do so. Your Vote matters/Your Voice Matters! https://www.govote.ky.gov
- If you are registered to vote, make a plan to vote. Election Day is Tuesday Nov 5. You can vote early in Kentucky starting on Thursday Oct 31. Early voting locations and hours are different depending on what county you’re in, so go to your county clerk’s office to learn more.
- If you’re registered and have a plan to vote, consider joining us or one of our partners to help others get to the polls! You can come back to this website periodically through the election season for updates on ways you can be involved.
In addition to the candidates, there are two constitutional amendments that have been proposed:
- Amendment 1 would prevent non-citizens from being able to vote
As Unitarian Universalists, the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and our belief in democratic processes make this amendment very concerning. Non-citizen residents should be able to vote in local elections; non-citizen residents who have kids in local schools should be able to vote on school board issues.
Kentucky law already prohibits non-citizens from voting, so this constitutional amendment is duplicative and creates another barrier to full and empowered engagement.
- Amendment 2 would allow public education funds to be diverted to private school tuition.
We opposed this amendment as public schools in KY are already underfunded by the state, and this would only divert necessary funds away from public schools and will have a disproportionate impact on rural schools in the state.
Your Vote/Your Voice Matters!
One way to impact on the issues that matter to you is to engage in the voting process. The Justice Center encourages you and works to support you to be more actively engaged to address these issues!
