Hands Off! Rally

You Killed It!!

You came out in the rain! You brought your posters! You brought your voices! And you sent Donald Trump and Elon Musk the message – Hands Off!

YOU made a difference and together we will continue to make a difference. Thank each and every one of you! A special thank you to Dustin Reinstedler, Ky Senator Gerald Neal, Ky Representative Nima Kulkarni, and US Congressman Morgan McGarvey for leading our march.

To keep up the energy and momentum, this week bombard your senators and representatives with calls telling them Hands Off! If you can’t get through, go old school and write a letter. It works better than an email. All you have to say is Hands Off! whatever you want their hands off. One call or letter a day sends the message that we are not going away. You may not feel that this makes a difference, but it does. It keeps the pressure on. Think how many calls and letters that would be if thousands of us participated in this Shower of Power.

In case you missed it…

On March 29 Trump fired nearly all Institute of Peace staff based in the U.S. but said he wouldn’t fire those involved in the Signal chat and that if the price of cars went up because of the tariffs, he didn’t care.

On March 30 he gave Musk’s price slashers access to a federal payroll system.

On April 1 he let go thousands of federal health workers, including scientists and senior leaders, who are in charge of our food and drugs, people who research new cures and protect us from disease. He also fired one of the lead FDA veterinarians researching bird flu. In addition, he fired the entire staff running a program to help low income Americans pay their utility bills.

On April 2 he put forth his global tariffs, froze funding for educational programs in Maine as retaliation against its Democratic governor, and demanded more cuts at the CDC.

On April 3 he fired the general who heads the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command on the advice of Laura Loomer, a right wing activist. He threatened withholding federal funds from public schools unless states showed they had eliminated all diversity programs.

Now I ask you, do you feel safer? Do you feel more secure? Do you have more money to spend? Do your groceries cost less?

Calls to Action

FEDERAL

Call Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul and tell them:

TO OPPOSE HB22, the SAVE Act, which is an attempt at mass disenfranchisement, disguised as an election integrity bill, requiring every voter to show proof of citizenship bearing their current name when registering to vote. This would end online and mail-in voter registration. It means showing a birth certificate or passport. The last name on the birth certificate must match the person’s current name.

TO CALL for the resignation of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

TO REINSTATE the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program and the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program. These programs give schools and food banks money to buy food from local farms and ranchers, money that schools and childcare facilities are counting on.

TO OPPOSE any budget bill for 2026 thatslashes vital programs for the American people.

TO RETURN the 17 people who were deported to El Salvador.

Call Mitch McConnell and tell him:

TO OPPOSE the deceptively named National Right to Work Act, proposed by Senator Rand Paul. These laws would weaken unions, suppress wages, and strip workers of their power. Destroying unions gives move power to corporations. Stronger unions lead to benefits for all workers. They set higher standards for wages, benefits, and safety regulations. If this bill becomes law, every worker in America will be affected.

Call Rand Paul and tell him:

YOU ARE OPPOSED TO his defense of Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Department of Education.

Call Morgan McGarvey and tell him:

TO BLOCK any bill that slashes funding for vital programs in the budget for 2026.

TO OPPOSE HR22, the SAVE Act.

It is expected the House will vote on this bill Thursday, April 10. The bill requires voters to show proof of citizenship documents that match their current legal name, something tens of millions of Americans simply don’t have. It would cause massive challenges for married women and trans and nonbinary people who’ve changed their names, and disproportionately impact people of color.

YOU APPRECIATE his responsiveness to his constituents.
