Dr. Jane E. Calvert speaks on President Thomas Jefferson Feb. 23rd!

Following the Sunday Service on February 23rd, please join us to hear Dr. Calvert’s presentation on the Founding era, specifically the intersection of theology and political thought. This important topic impacts us all as we consider the name change for our church.

Dr. Jane E. Calvert is Associate Professor of History at the University of Kentucky and Director/Chief Editor of the John Dickinson Writings Project. She received her PhD from the University of Chicago in 2003. Before coming to Kentucky, she taught five years at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Her area of expertise is the American colonial and Founding eras, specifically the intersection of theology and political thought, exemplified by her first book, Quaker Constitutionalism and the Political Thought of John Dickinson (Cambridge University Press, 2009). She is currently working on a biography of Founder John Dickinson and an 11-volume edition of The Complete Writings and Selected Correspondence of John Dickinson. She has also written on Thomas Paine, slavery, feminism, and the Second Amendment. Her work has received support from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the National Historic Publications and Records Commission, the State of Delaware, the American Philosophical Society, the Library Company of Philadelphia, the Huntington Library, McNeil Center for Early American Studies, and numerous private philanthropic foundations.
