Days for Girls
What is Days for Girls?
Days for Girls International, which is based out of Washington State, “increases access to menstrual care and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social enterprises, mobilizing volunteers, and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and limitations for women and girls. Together, we’re creating a world with dignity, health, and opportunity for all.”

Louisville KY Team
In January 2017, TJ members Sheila Ward and Diane Guenthner, as well as Diane’s sister, Lynann Gunn traveled to Mason Ohio to visit an established Days for Girls Team who had turned out over a thousand Days for Girls kits and sent them to school system in Nairobi. They learned how the team was organized, purchased supplies, sewed the products, and shipped them to Kenya (via fire fighter organization).
The first kits made by our three founders had to be quality inspected before the Team could launch and start sending kits anywhere. We did not pass on first inspection, but with patience, setting aside a bit of ego, our work was approved.
One of the goals of the Louisville KY Team is to help support a Days for Girls Enterprise in the Kenya. Days for Girls International supports several training centers throughout the world were women are taught the skills to make these products and sell them in their own communities. Our intention is to send some of our tailoring school graduates to one of these training opportunities, so that they can have a marketable skill, and provided a desperately needed service in their communities.
