Calls to Action

FEDERAL

Call Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul and tell them:

TO OPPOSE changes to Social Security

TO CALL for the resignation of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth

TO OPPOSE Medicaid cuts. Medicaid covers 72 million people. Republicans now claim the proposed Medicaid changes would not hurt eligible people who are enrolled in Medicaid. This is false. Republican Medicaid cuts would mean: 46% of Kentucky children who rely on Medicaid or CHIP could lose coverage; 44% of births in Kentucky covered by Medicaid would be at risk; 326,000 Kentuckians with disabilities could have new barriers to care; 68% of Kentucky nursing home residents who depend on Medicaid could see disruptions.  Kentucky’s rural hospitals and healthcare providers would be greatly affected, not just by access to healthcare but also with the loss of thousands of jobs in communities that can’t afford to lose them.

TO REINSTATE the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program and the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program.  These programs give schools and food banks money to buy food from local farms and ranchers, money that schools and childcare facilities are counting on.

TO OPPOSE HB22, the SAVE Act, which is an attempt at mass disenfranchisement, disguised as an election integrity bill, requiring every voter to show proof of citizenship bearing their current name when registering to vote. This would end online and mail-in voter registration. It means showing a birth certificate or passport.  The last name on the birth certificate must match the person’s current name.

TO OPPOSE any budget bill for 2026 that slashes vital programs for the American people.

Call Mitch McConnell and tell him:

TO OPPOSE the deceptively named National Right to Work Act, proposed by Senator Rand Paul. These laws would weaken unions, suppress wages, and strip workers of their power. Destroying unions gives more power to corporations.  Stronger unions lead to benefits for all workers. They set higher standards for wages, benefits, and safety regulations. If this bill becomes law, every worker in America will be affected.

Call Rand Paul and tell him:

YOU ARE OPPOSED TO his defense of Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Department of Education.

Call Morgan McGarvey and tell him:

TO BLOCK any bill that slashes funding for vital programs in the budget for 2026. Please keep calling on this one to show we are paying attention and not going away.

TO OPPOSE HR22, the SAVE Act.

YOU APPRECIATE his responsiveness to his constituents.

STATE

The Legislative session is over.

Call Governor Beshear and thank him:

FOR VETOING 29 bills even though the Republican-controlled state legislature overrode all of them.  Some of them are HB90 (Free-standing birth centers and abortion changes), HB399 (Legislative proceeding interference), HB495 (Overturning conversion therapy ban), HB398 (Worker safety protections), HB4 (DEI ban at colleges and universities), HB6 (REINS Act), HB136 (Dept. of Corrections reporting), HB424 (Post-secondary employment), HB216 (Dept. of Agriculture grants) HB695 (Changes in KY’s Medicaid program including the addition of a work requirement). Senate bills are SB89 (Water protections); SB19 (Requiring Kentucky K-12 schools to implement a minute-long seated moment of silence to start the day).

Indivisible is another tool to successfully strive to realize our UU values in support of our work with the Justice Center.

The Justice Center at All Peoples works to engage and mobilize our Congregation in meaningful justice advocacy and activism.  One of its objectives is to support our marginalized and vulnerable communities.

Indivisible is completely independent of the Justice Center.  It does not detract for the mission of the Justice Center but is another tool in our “arsenal” of activism in fighting for democracy.  Without democracy, marginalized groups will suffer even more.  Indivisible’s Louisville Chapter will be creating sub-groups in the future to work on local issues:  immigration, reproductive rights, education, etc. There may be an opportunity for collaboration.

Choose to engage or not- it’s an invitation to explore all options. Sign up for weekly newsletters and attend local meetings- review the task list below to see what you can do from home or with a group at future rallies.

Indivisible strives to build a democracy that reflects a broad, multiracial “we the people,” one that works for all of us and is sustained by all of us. Only then will we be able to achieve a progressive vision for our future.  All Peoples will not engage in political campaigning as defined by our 501(c)3 status.
